1ST DAY- Taiwan(Songshan)-(flight)-Kinmen / stay in Kinmen

2ND DAY- Kinmen-(ferry)-Xiamen-(taxi)-Ferry Pier(Xiamen) (for Taiwanese/Xiamen citizen or who work/study in Xiamen only)-Piano Pier(Gulangyu)

3RD DAY- Same way back to Kinmen

4TH DAY- Back to Taiwan(Songshan)

Notice:

1. For Mini-three-links from Kinmen to Xiamen, there is only one way from Shuitou Pier(Kinmen) to Wutong Wharf(Xiamen). There is no more to Dongdu Wharf(Xiamen).

2. Taiwanese who have Mainland Travel Permit have the right to take the boat from Ferry Pier(Xiamen) to Piano Pier(Gulangyu), same price as the citizen (8CYN/adult; Free/over 65 years old) and only take 5-10 mins.

3. Foreigners or people who are non-citizens, can only take the boat from Dongdu Wharf (Xiamen) to Sanqiutian Wharf(Gulangyu). It may cost 35CYN around and have the limit on the number of people.

Transportation in Kinmen:

It is suggested to rent a car. Check with your B&B or Homestay first. Most of them offer free shuttle to/from Airport or Pier and cheaper price for renting a car or scooter.

Transportation in Gulangyu:

Basically just walk!

Kinmen Attractions (personal ranking)

No.1 Jiangongyu Islet (建功嶼-金城鎮)

Best place for sunset photo. Just like Mont-Saint-Michel in France, we also have one in Kinmen. However, please make sure to check the tide time before walk into the islet or you may be stuck on the islet until tomorrow.

On the islet, you can also see a big statue for the famous historical figure - Zheng Cheng Gong. A different one you could also see in Gulangyu.

No.2 Shanhou Folk Culture Village (山后民俗文化村-金沙鎮)

Old style Minnan architecture can be seen in this well-preserved village (1900's).

If you are interested in the traditional living style, you could not miss it!

No. 3 Zhaishan Tunnel (翟山坑道-金城鎮)

Zhaishan Tunnel was dug in 1961 and completed in 1966, for war needs. Located at southeast of Gugang village, Jincheng township. In 1986 Kinmen National Park took over the tunner from the hands of the Kinmen Defense Command and opened to tourists in 1997. The Tunnel carved into a bedrock of granite gneiss. It is also Kinmen's primary rock formation.

No. 4 Taiwu Mountain (太武山-金湖鎮)

If you like to walk, here would be a good place for you. You may overlook the Jinhu Town and it is really beautiful.

On the top, you may find a famous stone has the inscription by Chaing Kai Sen.

No. 5 Cih Lake/ Cihu Fort (慈湖-金寧鄉)

Another nice place for sunset!!

Besides, you there are also some chariots, fortress and anti-landing piles.

Here is also a famous place for bird watching, such as Merops philippinus. Their habitat has also been enlarged.

No. 6 Chen jinglan's Western Style House (陳景蘭洋樓-金湖鎮)

It is the largest former Western-style house in Kinmen (1917). The building faces the Liao Luowan bay and a big park. During World War II, the house was used as a military hospital. Eventually, the house was renovated and opened to public for exhibition (2005).

No. 7 Kinmen Wind Lion God (金門風獅爺)

The "Wind Lion God" has other names such as "Wind Lion," "Stone Lion God," or "Stone Lion Lord," and so on. During the end of the Ming dynasty and the beginning of the Ching dynasty, the people of Kinmen suffered much wind damage. In order to protect themselves from the wind and get rid of the evil spirits, people erected Wind Lion Gods in front of temples or at their village entrances as their angel guards. Hence the Wind Lion God was believed to be a protector of Kinmen.

You may try to collect as much Wind Lion God as you can!!

No. 8 Colour house (彩色屋-金湖鎮)

A small place near Tai Lake at southeast of Kinmen, Jinhu township.

No. 9 Jyuguang Tower (莒光樓-金城鎮)

The tower was built in 1952 and completed the following year. From the top floor, visitors can have a bird's-eye view of downtown Jincheng. Jyuguang Tower was adopted as a motif for domestic stamps many times between 1959-1964. Needless to say, this tower is a landmark building as well as an eye-catching scenic spot in Kinmen.

There are a lot of villages with traditional architectures waiting for you to discover.

Besides, do not forget to try the delicious local dishes in Kinmen!!
